    The Skoidats

    The Skoidats

The Skoidats are a melange of Ska, Oi!, Jazz and Punk with a contemporary sound rooted in the old school Ska tradition of Baba Brooks, the Ethiopians and the Skatalites.

Unlike many Ska bands, the Skoidats sound varies greatly from song to song, pleasing Oi! fans as well as traditional Ska fans. It is rare to see someone standing still at a Skoidats show as their energy is impossible to ignore.

The Skoidats formed in the summer of 1995 in Helena, Montana. Soon after their inception, they relocated to Missoula, Montana, losing two members in the move. After arriving in Missoula, the three original Skoidats placed an ad in the paper to find a new horn section. It was soon answered by two members of the University of Montana marching band. They were the first and only horn players to be auditioned. Since robbing the University of Montana marching band of two members, this five piece has toured the country four times and played with such bands as the Slackers, the Bluebeats, the Insteps, MU330, Mephiskapheles, the Blue Meanies, the Allsonians, the Scofflaws, Let's Go Bowling and the Skatalites.

In the spring of 1998, the Skoidats will be embarking on their fifth tour of the United States with fellow label mates Skinnerbox, Elevator Music's Thumper, and Radical Records' Inspecter 7. The Skoidats are also looking forward to the soon to be released split seven inch with Inspecter 7 on Radical Records.
