If you've spent more than a minute on the ska scene, you'll know they're the original NY rudies,
the men who kept the flame burning even when it was just a candle in the window... They're
having fun, which means you're going to have a blast.

SKINNERBOX is a pioneering blend of traditional ska, reggae, soul,
punk and jazz. Long a favorite on the New York City club scene, SKINNERBOX
continues to stir crowds with their heavy arsenal of dance rhythms.
Sporting a new, leaner 5-piece sound, and a smashing all-star line-up,
the band is currently touring in support of their latest full-length
CD What You Can Do, What You Can't out nationwide on Moon Ska
Records.
SKINNERBOX is led by ska legend, songsmith/vocalist/trombonist King
Django who is also responsible for 1995's sensational Stubborn All-Stars
CD, Open Season (Another Planet Records), and their newest release
Back with a new Batch (Triple Crown Records) which was just touted
as a must have album by Dicky Barrett of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones
in the ska issue of the Alternative Press.
A fixture in the New York ska and reggae music underground, Django
cut his teeth in the scene as trombonist and singer with seminal old-school
NY Ska band the Boilers, and has also graced NYC bands the Slackers
and Skadanks. Django founded the Stubborn Records label, which released
the five-year Skinnerbox retrospective, Special Wild 1989-1994
among others. Django has a rich touring history under his belt and spent
the summer of '96 playing with Rancid on the Lollapalooza tour. During
that six weeks, he recorded a track with Rancid for the Beavis and
Butthead Do America feature film soundtrack. He has toured internationally
with the Stubborn All-Stars, the Toasters, and legendary New York City
cult hardcore band Murphy's Law.
SKINNERBOX is fresh off of the Smashing NYC Ska Mob tour which was
a triple bill featuring Hellcat recording artists the Slackers and the
Stubborn All-Stars. Their past touring history includes a national tour
opening for the Specials as well as dates with Desmond Deckker, Bad
Manners, Eek-A-Mouse, the Skatalites, and Let's Go Bowling (to name
just a few).
SKINNERBOX always has surprises up its sleeves and guest performers
have included the Skadanks, Jamal-ski, the Double Trouble Twins, Puppy
Ranking, Jimmy Dresher of Murphy's Law, Special Beat's Ranking Roger,
and the Specials' Neville Staples.
