Tough, sexy and smart, "Stinger's singer is bionic, like Jamie." Says Tourdates.com. San Francisco's most delicious and delirious new rock'n'roll band Simon Stinger is coming to a theater near you on February 18 when they make their film debut as extras in the Miramax feature Diamonds. Their song "Fringe Authority" off of their new album "Devil On My Mind" will be heard nationwide and plays during one of the most unforgettable and humorous scenes in the movie - Kirk Douglas does therapeutic tongue exercises to the beat of their music.
Their place in the movie was a genuine stroke of luck. Singer Alicia Perrone tells it like this: "The band was packing our gear out of The Sands Hotel & Casino in Reno where we were staying and out of nowhere this guy, John Asher (who turned out to be the director and Jenny McCarthy's husband) came running up to us. "Can I steal you guys for a scene?" he asked. "All of a sudden we were standing in front of Dan Aykroyd and Kirk Douglas as extras being filmed in a pivotal scene. We slipped Asher a CD and we left."
In Diamonds, Kirk Douglas plays Harry, a one-time prize fighter who embarks on a life-changing road trip with his son Lance (Dan Aykroyd) and teenage grandson (Corbin Allred). Feisty at 80 despite a recent stroke, Harry is faced with the prospect of being sent to a retirement home by his family. Instead of giving in to a sheltered life, Harry convinces Michael and Lance to join him in search of thirteen long lost diamonds. Along the way, they meet up with pit bosses, gangsters, an intriguing madam named Sin-Dee, portrayed by Lauren Bacall, and the women in her brothel, including the irrepressible Jenny McCarthy.
Diamonds will be released on February 18, 2000 nationwide.
Simon Stingers new album "Devil On My Mind" will be released the same week street date: February 15, 2000.
They will be playing a slew of local record release parties to follow. Simon Stinger is currently in town and available for interviews. Please contact Ariel Publicity if you would like to set one up.

Press Clips
"Simon Stinger are the entertainers you've been waiting for. Rock'n'roll is all about seduction and they know how to seduce you."
- G.A.S.P. Magazine
"Everything about this is polished unadulterated fun. Both strong songwriting and powerhouse vocalist Alicia Perrone make hitting the Rewind button at its glorious end a necessity. Like shoving your fist into Grandpa's old tackle box, you can't help but snag yourself on its many hooks. SS's tunes can hold their own with commercial radio's top picks..."
- San Francisco Bay Guardian
"...Pure low-fi electronica enveloped in big fun cheesy guitars, and the 3-minute perfect pop song recipe."
- Circus Magazine
"Did someone say sassy? BAM's Diamond in the Rough contenders have industry heads turning, touting Stinger as the next big thing out of the bay area. With the eminent resurgence of new wave this scenario seems likely."
- BAM Magazine
" Psycho-sexual pop rock that's made this journalist dance in boxer shorts on the bar a few times. They may just be the next big thing to come out of the Golden Gate."
- Zero Magazine
"Simon Stinger have been around for only a short time, but have already started waking up their corner of the rock world...and now the world could be wide open for this Bay Area foursome [which] shows a knack for writing songs that hit hard enough to wake you up, but with the right touches to get you grooving and dancing.... Fresh and fun, definitely a band to watch out for."
- Music Morsels
"Hot rod new wave for the next generation."
- San Francisco Weekly
"Comparable to Bow Wow Wow, [and] Blondie, but gutsier, [and] trashier than either. Wildly entertaining whether on stage or in your car...rockin' sweaty new wave for a cool crowd. Suck in some SS excitement... contagious and delicious. I ate 3 whole bowls.
- Swingin' Chandeliers
"Lead singer Alicia Perrone struts the stage with total confidence, she's an electric performer. New wave is coming back and Simon Stinger is already at the beach."
- Gangreen
"This San Francisco rock/pop band... will blow you away. Fronted by the incredible Alicia Perrone, this group is on its way to something huge!"
- The Intelligible Conjurer
"Edgy guitar pop...[goes] down so perfect, it's over before you know it and you just hafta give it another go. The kind of stuff you keep in your player cuz it's just so damn good. Singer Alicia Perrone pops out immediately like your favorite singer, laughing and shouting like you're already one of the crowd. You'll love this."
- Gajoob Magazine
"Simon Stinger is groovy, girl-fronted bubble rock. I haven't taken it out of my player since I got it. What more could a girl ask for? What more could anyone ask for? Everyone should own this."
- Colossal Loaf
"Simon Stinger are tough, sexy, and smart. Stinger's singer is bionic,... Their new record "Devil On My Mind" is more powerful than it even realizes. It's really gonna shake things up around here in the bay area."
- Tourdates.com
"If this Concord, CA 4-piece has any say in the matter, New Wave for the 90's might be the next big thing. Bouncy pop hooks galore, some punkish energy, a New Wave gloss and frontwoman Alicia Perrone's killer vocals (think a little Dale Bozzio and a little Gwen Stefani, but more powerful than either)...so watch out, because chart domination should be right around the corner..."
- The Music Corner
"This band is awesome...a very refreshing ear opener and kind of an 80's blast from the past at the same time. I nominate singer Alicia Perrone as best female singer... If I owned a record company, they'd already be signed to my label!"
- Gina Achord, Bands on the Run
"I'd classify them as adventurous modern rock on the verge. I use the term "on the verge" because this band has one of the best sounds I've heard in a while. It's not often I've been treated to such a perfect match of voice and melody."
- The Laramie Daily Boomerang
"There's something about Simon Stinger. Rarely have I seen this kind of command and charisma displayed onstage in an unsigned band. They have more magic and excitement than most signed bands I can think of."
- Rick DeRushia, Colonel Mustache Festival
