Jamming Out Reaches New Levels With Schleigho, SeepeopleS
By Jeff Vari published in the Moultrie News, June 4, 2003 - Mt. Pleasant SC

"Although both bands are known for their jamming out, New York city based jazz fusion quartet Schleigho would probably never be billed with SeepeopleS, a Portland Maine rock trio whose original sound reverberates in the mind of the listener well after the show.

But since this was the Village Tavern, not a tightly orchestrated arena tour backed by cash cow promoters, the two bands decided to share the night, which made for an excellent spectrum of sounds.

The bands are on seperate East Coast tours, but since they had a night off, SeepeopleS decided to warm up for the proven crowd favorite on Wednesday evening. Clocking in at under half of the two-hour-plus set of Schleigho, SeepeopleS plowed their way through six great rock songs, gaining some new fans along the way.

The highlights were tracks pulled from their debut free-flowing album, "For the Good of the Naiton," in which two of the members on stage weren't even a part of. Founding member Will Bradford's contagious voice captivated the audience almost as much as his pedal infused sparkling guitar parts and synth work.

Soothing and chantlike, his work produces beautiful imagery over the driving force of most of the tracks, the bass playing and drumming of Keith Mann and Ben Sawyer, respectively. The anti-establishment and "set your life free" lyrics on songs like "Oceans of the Abandoned" are delivered in a convincing enough free-wheeling attitude to make one conjure up the fantasy of leaving that desk job and joing the pro surf circuit for at least the duration of the song.

Just like the ocean, the sounds were spilling out on seemingly endless possiblities of spacey but focused jams throughout the catchy set. Powered by the bouncy bss of Mann and intense drumming of Sawyer, Bradford was definitly in sync with his new crew as confirmed when the trio all made contact early in the set to confirm the "Yeah, I'm feelin it" shared attitude. SeepeopleS provided an excellent prelude to an intense jam out session provided by Schleigho..."
