Welcome to a new experience in sonic exploration and multi-media fusion. Particle is a nationally touring act that radiates positive energy and artistic inspiration. Their music has been described as "Space Porn":  a unique blend of high-octane funk and electronic soundscapes. As a band in constant pursuit of new musical ideas, Particle thrives on the intensity and improvisational interplay generated by their vibrant live performances. Their dedication to the "road warrior" mentality has kept them in a state of constant flux, and has helped generate a passionate network of Particle People across the country.

Particle's dynamic sound consists of Eric Gould on bass, Steve Molitz on keyboards, Darren Pujalet on drums, and Charlie Hitchcock on guitar. Each player comes from a different musical background, and the combination of these diverse elements allows the group to dive into a number of different stylistic genres. The result is a trademark mix of funk, groove, and electronica; although audiences also welcome the incorporation of jazz, rock, hip-hop, world beat, and Latin rhythms.

Particle's adventures began in October of 2000 with their first performance on a San Francisco Bay late-night boat party. Audiences were instantly attracted to the group's original sound and engaging stage presence, and Particle continued to perform to packed houses throughout California. Unfortunately, Particle's incredible momentum reached a crossroads when their original guitarist, Dave Simmons, passed away in December of 2000. The remaining members embraced Dave's passing as an inspiration, and they remained focused on the future with spirits set high. Soon thereafter, Charlie Hitchcock joined the band, and Particle was once again poised and eager to share their music with the world.

Since then, they have taken their uplifting sound coast to coast, and have performed with many of today's top acts, often inviting members from other groups to sit in and share their experience. Whether it's the outdoor atmospheres of the festival scene or the concentrated energy of the nation's premier venues, Particle remains an exhilarating attraction at any venue. Fans have come to love Particle as a band that constantly reaches  new heights. Special events such as their thematic boat cruise and late-night performances (where they often play 3 or 4 set marathons stretching well through sunrise!), have proven that Particle is driven to continually push the envelope. The addition of projectionist Scott MacKinnon has also helped to broaden the spectrum of the group's presentation. By mixing live video footage of the performers with a variety of his own computer-generated images, Scott projects a whirlwind of visuals displayed in synchronicity with the music.

Particle is on a perpetual mission to expand their sound, their live performances, and their travels. Fueled by their incredible fans, the Particle People, this band is charged up and ready to forge even further ahead into the depths and peaks of sonic exploration. Enjoy your art. Imagination has no boundaries.
