Artist Name: Oddzar
Album Title: Self Titled
10/14/04

Oddzar are new to the DCide Records roster and they bring a great mix of heavy rock sounding songs full of great hooks, groove riffs and powerful vocals that fill the songs with up and down, soft to heavy song structuring as well as an array of intense emotion to bring you a very dynamic release.

The band takes to such influences as Radiohead, Tool, and The Deftones. These influences can be heard throughout the songs, but they are no copy cats and their playing exemplifies that, and with that, they have accomplishing their own sound.

The album incorporates such a vast landscape of sound and feel, giving life to each song bringing out the most pure aggression or hatred and slipping back into the depths or disappointment and depression with some flash of hope always present in either case. In the songs “El Cajon Pass” and “Ozymandias”, it is amazing how such melodic songs and such slow paced structures can hold so much depth and in fact that is where the most depth lies, in those songs that breathe, Oddzar pull this off very well and capture emotion through music like so many can do, but only so many can do well. The heavier side of the album appears in and out of the melodic elements in the songs, a slow passage will build up into a heavy riff and vocalist Russ Eckell will unleash harsh screams, which adds more texture to the songs. The songs, along with the constant present of human exploration of emotion make this disc a very interesting and very enjoyable listen. The album will have quite an impact on an open listener of music; this band is very organic and passionate. With great musicianship they will continue to explore the greater aspects of music creativity.

This self titled release will indeed appeal to people into such bands as Tool, The Deftones, Radiohead, Helmet, and Dredg. Oddzar are one of those bands that will push envelopes and blur lines.
