Christopher Jak: CHRISTOPHER JAK
CD review by Stephen Veefkind

For those of you lamenting the demise of the singer-songwriter to the in-your-face bitch-slap of rap and white-noise rock, there is good news: Christopher Jak. A former choir boy, Jak made his way from his native New Jersey to the high country of Colorado, which he now calls home. In the same vein as James Taylor, Cat Stevens, and the other great singer-songwriters of the seventies, Jak makes music with little more than his guitar and his voice. His music touches the heart, addressing love, pain, recovery, and joy. In an era of music where style is more important than content and push-up bras and jiggly breasts eclipse the discovery of self and soul, Jak rings in like a buoy in a foggy bay.

Jak makes music for the introspective. Himself a self-professed soul-seeker ("...injury leads to inspiration," he states) Jak takes the music inside him, transcribes it into words, and puts music to it. Like any good singer-songwriter, he explains those feelings we all have, and in so doing, helps us explain ourselves.

Take a long ride down the interstate with Christopher Jak. You'll find that silver lining everyone
