    Chief Broom

    Chief Broom

Chief Broom's eclectic blend of roots, blues, funk, jazz, and folk has attracted a huge local following. Indisputably Boulder Colorado's hottest new act, they have to turn away hundreds of fans outside the legendary Fox Theatre everytime they play.

Chief Broom's live performances are a breathless combination of rich three part harmonies, acoustic and electric instrumentation, and wailing keys. The full undulating voice of Jessica Goodkin, a voice major at The University of Colorado, adds to their musical landscape building an intense, and visceral sound.

Formed in 1995, out of the dormitories of CU Boulder, Chief Broom began playing bars around town and quickley caught on as locals grinning from ear to ear began to dance like the deranged, heads bobbing up and down and sweat flowing. Chief Broom won over each individual by making a personal connection with each of its fans. Dave Cieri, pianist, sums it up this way: "You can share something with someone who you really have no idea who they are or what they're about, have a musical conversation with them." It's their musical conversation that has given Chief Broom the ability to rise to the top in a very short amount of time.

The Summer of '97 was good to Chief Broom. They started it off by winning the H.O.R.D.E. tour band to band combat at the Fox Theatre. As a result they were awarded several dates on the H.O.R.D.E. tour with Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Morphine, and Primus. That Summer also put them on stage at the famous Red Rocks Amphitheater for Mimi Fishman's (of Phish fame) 1st Annual Vision Fest with the Dave Grisman Quintet, Merl Saunders and the Rain forest Band, and Government Mule.

Chief Broom is gearing up to take the country by storm this summer. Catch them at your local watering hole.
