"Love Tatto" is the second release from Amelia's Dream. Amelia Gewirtz is the group's namesake and therefore is the focal point of this CD. Gewirtz's voice is sensual, stimulating and charming all in the same breath. One gaze at the cover of the CD may raise your blood pressure a bit. Once you hear the music and the voice behind it, you will instantly be able to fit the picture into the music.
Gewirtz has phenomenal range when she decides to use it. She prefers a low-key breathy sexual undertone for the most part, throughout the recording. As appealing as that may seem...she does have a beautiful voice that could be used more frequently. You hear the power that's coming from this woman, but she needs more room to use what she has.
The group as a unit is very good. The supporting roles are strong at each position in the band. This is a mix of pop-rock-dance (techno). Every once in awhile the guitar comes roaring out to grab you. Not nearly enough for my taste. The lyrics are what really caught my discerning ear. What I heard were messages that really reach out and touch you. The whole process made me think about what was being conveyed.
The group as a whole seems a portion to restrained. If they cut loose and decide to use a more free form style, I think the outcome would be astounding. All criticisms aside, this is a great CD, and a nice cross section of genres as well. Your soul will be tattooed with Amelia's love when you are finished.
